WHY HYPNOTHERAPY & MEDITATION?
Both hypnosis and meditation involve altering the mind, but they do so in different ways, each with its own specific approach and purpose.
I like to explain hypnotherapy is like accessing a storage unit that is located in your mind. In this storage unit I will help you to organize and get rid of whatever no longer serves you. You do all of the work, I simply ask questions and offer suggestions if need be. Hypnosis is often considered a state of deep relaxation creating a state of focused attention. The key feature of hypnosis is its ability to bypass the critical mind and access subconscious thoughts or behaviours for reframing and healing. Hypnosis can be used for a variety of purposes, such as overcoming trauma, overcoming phobias, reducing stress, and anything you want to heal or work on!
A hypnosis session will start with a chat about what you would like to work on in that session. You will recline in my comfy Zero Gravity Chair, close your eyes and listen to my voice just like listening to a guided meditation. I will guide you into a state of hypnosis which feels like deep relaxation in which you are in total control the whole time. We will have dialogue back and forth, I will ask you questions and we will create a new magical experience in your mind to reframe what is coming up.
Meditation, on the other hand, typically involves cultivating a calm and focused state through mindfulness or other techniques. The goal of meditation is often more about practicing focus, letting go, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and long-term mental clarity.
Meditation can be incredibly beneficial for healing and self-awareness, but deep-seated beliefs in the subconscious can sometimes act as barriers to change. Hypnotherapy can be particularly effective because it works directly with those subconscious beliefs, helping to reprogram them. Combining both practices—meditation for mindfulness and hypnotherapy for deeper belief work—can lead to more profound and lasting results.
